Amanda Overmyer who sang "Back in the U.S.S.R." last Tuesday night on American Idol is now heading home.
Amanda, a 23 year old nurse from Mulberry, Indiana, was voted off Wednesday night, leaving the final 10 contestants to battle it out amongst themselves for the title and record contract.
Although a crowd pleasing performer with streaked hair and a talent for southern rock, she appeared to take her elimination with a grain of salt, quoting "it's been a run....No. 11 out of all them people is more than I could expect".
Carly Smithson and Kristy Lee Cook also found themselves in the bottom 3 results.
Kristy Lee, a 24-year-old from Selma, Oregon, has found herself in the bottom 3 over the last few weeks, constantly being criticized by Simon Cowell.
Simon Cowell has been quoted to say of Kristy Lee Cook; "forgettable" and compared her voice to “Dolly Parton on helium" and continued his criticism of her Tuesday night after she sang the Beatles song "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away”.
He went on to quote; "you're like musical wallpaper, in so much as you notice it, but you can't remember it, and that's what you're doing week after week, you're making no impact."
Kristy Lee responded by saying; "I can blow you out of your socks, and you know it."
Kellie Pickler who was a season five finalist made a guest appearance on Wednesday nights American Idol.
It was announced that this year's selection of celebrity mentors will be Dolly Parton, Mariah Carey, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Neil Diamond.
