Music composed by Paul McCartney and John Lennon shaped one of the most powerful and successful songwriting partnerships in rock and roll history.
Paul McCartney appears in the “Guinness World of Records” as the most successful musician and composer in music history, achieving 60 gold discs and sales of 100 million singles.
At a later date after the Band had disbanded, McCartney tried to talk John Lennon and George Harrison into going back to the stage, but when they were on the verge of signing a new contract with Capitol Records, Paul McCartney suggested "going back to our roots" to which Lennon replied, "I think you're mad”.
Paul McCartney was always very interested in animated films as a child which later prompted him to approach and ask Geoff Dunbar to direct a short animated film called “Rupert and the Frog Song” in 1981. McCartney composed the music and the script, produced it, and also did the voice over’s for some of the characters.
Paul McCartney released his debut solo album “McCartney” back in April 1970 and in 1980 when he released his album “McCartney II” he actually played every single instrument, with an emphasis on synthesizers as opposed to guitars.
Paul McCartney's next album in 1982 called “Tug of War”, reunited him with Ringo Starr and Beatles producer George Martin, which featured McCartney's duet with Stevie Wonder called "Ebony and Ivory", as well as his mark of respect to Lennon, with the song called "Here Today".
A love of painting for Paul McCartney came about after observing artist “Willem de Kooning” paint, in Kooning's Long Island barn, which later led to an offer by the “Walker Art Gallery” in Liverpool, to exhibit some of McCartney’s paintings.
Paul McCartney is one of Britain's wealthiest men, with an estimated wealth of £824 million. McCartney's song "Yesterday" is the most covered song in history with more than 3,500 recorded versions and has been played more than 7 million times on American TV and Radio, for which McCartney received an award.
Music was running through Paul McCartney’s veins from day one, due to McCartney's father who led “Jim Mac's Jazz Band” back in the 1920’s as a trumpet player and pianist. His father’s musical talents obviously had a great impact on McCartney at a young age and undoubtedly played a big role in his son’s future success.
